After the release of the Decennial Census, the California Citizens Redistricting Commission is charged with creating California's new State Assembly, State Senate, Congressional, and Board of Equalization districts. The process of creating the new districts is called redistricting

For the 2021 redistricting cycle, the Statewide Database developed three free-to-use tools to help people who live in California share their input with the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. The tools are still available for personal use or educational purposes. Learn more about each of these tools below.

Draw your Community of Interest


Draw My CA Community allows users to draw a map of and describe their Communities of Interest. When finished, users can download files associated with their community map.

Draw My CA Districts is a free-to-use online tool for creating district maps.


Through Draw My CA Districts, users can create district maps throughout the state of California and download files associated with their map to their device.

Draw My CA is a free-to-use plugin for the open-source GIS platform, QGIS.


Through Draw My CA, users can create redistricting plans for the state of California while having access to a full GIS platform. When finished, users can save their files to their local computer.
